Summary of Innovation

Pineberry Manufacturing Inc. designed and manufactured a custom affixing system for a large beauty manufacturer. The innovative automation packaging system affixes nail polish strips, nail prep/alcohol pads and nail files to a carrier, folds the carrier closed and prints UPC coding on packaging for retail.

This innovative automation packaging affixing system is used to automate the packaging process of nail polish strips. The operator loads the Pineberry friction feeders with the appropriate carriers, nail polish strips, nail prep/alcohol pads and nail files. As the carrier is fed onto a vacuum conveyor, the attached glue systems apply glue to the carriers to affix the nail polish strips, nail prep/alcohol pads and nail files to the carrier. The integrated vision inspection confirms correct affixing position before the carrier is folded shut. The integrated drop on demand (DOD) printer prints UPC codes on packaging for retail. A second vision inspection confirms correct packaging and UPC coding before the finished products are shingled in batches onto a Pineberry shingling conveyor for easy shipping to retailers and e-Commerce stores worldwide.

Innovation Statement

This innovative automation packaging affixing system is used to automate the packaging process of nail polish strips. This one automation system feeds and packages three different carrier sizes for the customers’ products with speeds up to 120 packages per minute.
