What You Will Learn

Put walls come in all different types. There are different providers of Put-To-Light hardware, conveyor and controls, WMS interfaces, etc., but they all have one thing in common — the faster the cubbies turn, the more volume that can be produced. We'll examine some different types of configurations and their benefits as well as achieving flow via waving, overlapping waves, and continuous flow WES systems. We'll also look at both semi coupling and decoupling the packing process from the put wall.

Key Takeaways

Put-wall configurations vary based upon supplier, product handling characteristics and efficiency gains of batches. The key to flowing orders lies in how fast you’re able to turn the cubbies and the triggers that insert new orders in the wall.
